Solomon Mudege, a graduate of the NMMU Department of Human Movement Science and the inaugural FIFA/CIES/NMMU programme in sport management has recently been appointed to a full time position within FIFA as a Marketing Alliances Manager. In this regard Solomon will be part of a team that is responsible for managing all marketing related activities and events with the Commercial Affiliates of FIFA.

After completing his FIFA/CIES/NMMU qualification at NMMU cum laude, and top of the class, Solomon was one of only two students from Africa to be selected to the prestigious FIFA Master on a full scholarship. Solomon went on to pass this course with distinction and was then offered a one year internship at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. It is obviously during this time that Solomon left an indelible mark on the folks at FIFA and hence this wonderful new challenge and opportunity.

In making the announcement Solomon had this to say to Vernon Oosthuizen, programme manager for the FIFA/CIES/NMMU partnership:

“I’ve enjoyed my internship at FIFA and I’m glad that I managed to secure a position which suits my abilities and interests. I am looking forward to being a part of the FIFA Marketing team – it’s an exciting challenge as we strive to deliver innovative and valued opportunities to our Commercial Affiliates. I am extremely grateful to FIFA, CIES and NMMU for putting in place the numerous programmes which have allowed me to achieve my career objectives.”

We at NMMU take this opportunity in congratulating Solomon on this magnificent achievement and wish him all the best in his new position.
