April the 25th 2011 – yes, Easter Monday saw the 2010 Edition students “report” for their 3rd block of lectures which ran until Saturday 30 April. This of course meant the students also sacrificed another public holiday during the week as Freedom Day was celebrated on 27 April!

The students nevertheless gallantly took this into their stride and enthusiastically threw themselves into the work which saw them complete the Sport Communication module with Debbie Derry and start the Financial Management module with Gavin Hustler.

Highlights in this week included a guest lecture by Marco Leal Tobar, who is employed at FIFA in their Player Status and Governance Department. Marco is in charge of all player agent matters world-wide for FIFA and addressed the students on matters pertaining to player agents. The lecture that Marco did was exceptionally well received by the students.

Also in this week Debbie Derry took the students on an excursion to the Herald Newspaper where they could interact with experienced journalists and get to grips with the media in their work environment.

Further highlights in the week were the mock press conferences that were held.

The 2010 Edition students now only have their final block week ahead of them before graduating on 3 October 2011. The 4th block will see them complete the financial management and event management modules.
